How Do I Change My Air Filter?

With the exception of some HEPA filters, most air filters on your heater or air conditioning unit can be changed quickly and easily, and should be changed up to 4 times per year depending on the type. Here are the steps for changing your filter:
- Determine the size of the filter with three dimensions: width, height, and thickness.
- Replace the old filter by removing the filter cover, usually located on the side of the heating unit where the return air duct is attached.
- If you experience difficulty, refer to a Youtube video for your make and model. For example, here is a tutorial for the Trane CleanEffects pre-filter cleaning and/or replacement.
